Relax whilst the train follows the shores of Lake Leman and across Swiss vineyards, with stunning views of the Alps in the background. Travel further south after crossing the border into Italy before arriving in Venice. On arrival, check in at your hotel and enjoy a three-night stay. (Overnight in Venice) (B)

Watch the world go by with a coffee in the iconic St Mark's Square before discovering attractions such as the Campanile and the Clock Tower. (Overnight in Venice) (B)

  • Day 4

Enjoy breakfast then catch your train to Florence. Once you get your bearings, start exploring this beautiful and historic city. A good place to start is the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest and most famous bridge over the Arno River, filled with shops and connecting the famous Uffizi museum to the old Medici Palace. (Overnight in Florence) (B)

  • Day 5

After breakfast this morning, spend another day discovering Florence. The Uffizi Gallery is immensely popular so avoid the queues by pre-booking your ticket and admire the works of Botticelli, Caravaggio, Raphael and Michelangelo. Admire the spectacular Duomo Cathedral and be sure to enjoy some fine Italian cuisine before you leave the “Renaissance city”. (Overnight in Florence) (B)

  • Day 6

Travel from Florence to Rome by train.
